The magnesium in pills is most often magnesium oxide, and it is very irritating to the colon in doses over 500mgs. Magnesium chloride is not irritating at all, but I've only found it in liquid form. The product is call MagChlor 85, and it's available from painstresscenter.com. You need to mix it with vegetable juice, I like V8, because it has a nasty, salty taste, it's really hard to take straight, but you can take as much as you need. I take it at bedtime in juice, along with a single magnesium oxide capsule because they are cheaper, and it puts me right to sleep. I take 4 droppersful as my dose, my chiropractor started me with 3, and at one point I was at 6, but I've found that the 4 works best for me. Hope this helps with your problem!

Because of this post, I purchased some Magnesium Chloride. I take one tablet at bed. It has disrupted my sleep with anxiety dreams, but it has also made me sleep a little longer. This is day four of taking it, and my joints are more achy, and my glutes and quads are more painful.

The brand I am taking is Alta Health Products (from iHerb.com), and it is 520mg per pill. I am only taking one.

Is this response normal in the beginning?

^_^

I don't know if it is or not. I've only used the MagChlor product without the problems you mentioned. I'm sorry I don't have more info for you, I really hope that this resolves for you soon.

Thanks to the fibro community I started taking magnesium. Before that the frequency of muscle spasms was unbearable. Especially the charley horses in my thighs. I would get them every couple of days and they would last for close to 30 minutes. Then, the pain from the charley horses would hurt for days. I've even gotten black and blue where I had the cramp. How bad is that? I'm going to look for the magnesium you mention. Thanks
