fairly new to this

I am so glad I found this community.  I am fairly new to FMS having been diagnosed recently (~2 months ago).  I was originally diagnosed with  PMR and placed on prednisone, which took care of the hip and neck pain/stiffness, but not the fog/headaches.  the dr decided I might have FMS instead and put me on Savella, handed me a titration pack with the instructions "see if you can tolerate it, and well talk"  I have been able to tolerate it just fine, so I have been on it for 1 1/2 month.  even got my insurance to cover it (after originally saying they wanted me to try Cimbalta first), the thing is that I don't really believe I have FMS.  the only thing the doctor ask is how is the pain?, well the pain is fine because the pred keeps it in check as a matter of fact I had practically no pain when he put me on Savella.  Now he decided to take me off pred, and guess what? the pain is back.  I am stiff, have a hard time getting off the chair, can't turn my neck, and have ABSOLUTELY NO ENERGY, not to mention the haze/fog does not go away, all I want to do is go to bed, can't switch off the brain to go to sleep, etc.
so the questions are:
  • can you have PMR AND FMS together?
  • Could it all be aggravated by Menopause?  Or could it just be Menopause?  (I had a histerectomy 10yrs ago, so no plumbing, no way of knowing)
  • what is Savella supposed to be doing  besides making me constipated and drying my throat?
also I'm type 2 diabetic, but keep it under control with diet alone, no meds.  Have even managed to not gain weight while on pred.

auto-immune disorders, introduction, savella, brain fog
