Sigh.
Those who want to strangle their central nervous systems right now please raise your hands.
(Or we would, if our CNS had a physical, strangle-able form...)
Part of me is thinking, "Hey, you took a Soma prescription pill, an herbal pill, ate a bunch of healthy foods and a smoothie containing supergreens, superfruits, superextracts, supervitamins, and superwhatevers, and you had two shots of espresso, and you did yoga -- and you're STILL fatigued and in pain? What the fuck is wrong with you?"
And the rest of me is thinking, "What ISN'T wrong with me?"
....
The other day, I was instant messaging with a friend who knows damn well about fibro, who is usually very sympathetic and helpful, and who really does care, and he asked me why all my pills, supplements, exercises, and remedies weren't helping. And I quote: "You're doing all this good healthy shit, so the pain and fatigue should be cured! You must be doing something wrong." I wanted to smack him and call him an asshole. Particularly when he said, "You should take Lyrica and Cymbalta. They're FDA-approved." I did remind him that my neurologist and my physician both advised me against those, because I am already taking an anti-convulsant and Cymbalta gave me bad side effects, and if the Trileptal was working then I shouldn't switch to Lyrica or add it. Besides, just because something is FDA-approved doesn't mean it is the only possible treatment. Trileptal is being prescribed off-label for fibromyalgia, exactly how Lyrica was before it became approved. We've had this debate before; he never seems to get it. I love him, but he likes to say that he knows about everything and is usually right, therefore I must take his advice. He also told me that if I just slept better the fibro would be cured forever, because it was all about sleep problems and the pain was only secondary and minor in comparison. *strangle*
Huh. Okay. Venting done.
