Today's FMS analogy.

While talking about fibromaylgia today, trying to put it in some kind of context a person without it could grasp, I found myself likening it to being in an abusive relationship with one's own body.


After all, you can't reason with it, you can't leave it because it's your sole means of support (how are you going to get by in the world without blood and bones and guts?), and while in time you can kind of predict what might set it off, you just never know. It controls your life, deprives you of hobbies, friends, and things you used to enjoy. Sometimes it won't even let you leave the home to work.

Not to belittle domestic abuse, but it was interesting to see the 'ah ha' light go on in the other person's eyes, because it was a comparison they could grasp.
