Unidentified (Flying Saucer) Leg Pain

I know I've read about this topic here before, but I can't for the life of me find anything relevent when I go looking. So sorry to those whose ears are bleeding from this oft repeated request for info.

I've been having quite severe pain in my legs that's brought on by walking or standing for too long. I can't remember when it started, it feels like I've had it forever, but it's been getting worse and worse for the past year to the point where it's getting hard to walk long distances (ie doing grocery shopping for half an hour is likely to trigger it). The pain is so intense that I can't describe it very accurately to doctors - I can narrow it down to the knee and hip area, but can't say whether it's joint or muscular. Not very helpful, I know.

My specialist is sending me for a full body bone scan to look for any nasty-ness and has pronounced that if it shows up nothing then it is likely "just another CFS perk". Well, knowing my luck that is more than likely; but CFS perk or no, I have to do something about it. I'm wondering whether anyone here has experienced something similar and what they have found helpful in treatment?

Just recently I've discovered that I may have been receiving treatment with a TENS machine for another problem (preventative neck and shoulder treatment for headaches) and not even realised it. The physio said the long name really fast and I never caught it, so I just called it "that annoying buzzing machine". LOL. But may that help my legs? It doesn't seem to do much for my neck and shoulders but they insist on using it.

So any suggestions? Naturally, I want to wait until after the results of the scan, but suggestions would be great.
Thanks.
