well, it's been a while since
my last post here where I asked about healing from drastic illness when one has fibromyalgia. I've come a long way since then, altho I haven't really been active online or offline since I'm still tiring much easier than normal. I've been back to work since the end of December and they're really making sure not to overwork me until I get stronger. they're being so careful they're still only working me 3 3-4 hour days a week and always making sure I get a break midway thru even tho they don't have to give employees a break unless they work over 4 hours. that's a good thing because if I don't get a break by the 2 hour point I'm pretty much shot for quite a while. it feels like a huge backslide, considering before I was in the hospital I could do a little over 3 hours before a break without getting near as bad as I've been getting by the 2 hour mark.
I also started on lyrica and it's working wonderful. I was on ultram for almost two years, taking it as needed, but it got to the point the withdrawal was worse than the pain. since my doctor decided my kidneys had enough time to make sure they were fully sound. before I started on it not only would I be exhausted shortly after the 2 hour point, but shortly before the 2 hour point my pain would get to the point it got hard to stand and it felt like my legs would give out from the pain any second. now I still have pain but it's nowhere near as bad. I can actually stand a little longer than two hours without the pain getting to the point my legs felt like they'd give out (altho I still get exhausted).
the best part was, two days after I started on lyrica I managed to spend 4 hours at the best mall in driving distance (the one in my town sucks, it doesn't even have a good bookstore in it anymore or a DVD/music store). my friend and I made sure to get something to eat about 2 hours in and rest for a bit and I even spent a little while walking around without using my cane (there were so many fankiddies in the manga/comic section there was barely room to look thru it even without a cane and they were of the subspecies of manga fankiddy that doesn't give a crap about anyone outside their "herd"). while that little situation at the bookstore was annoying, the rest of the day was wonderful. I've never been able to spend over 2 hours there before, or 3 if I borrowed one of their electric scooters if they had some that were available and charged.
in not so good news my mom, after her last doctor's appointment was diagnosed with chronic fatigue on top of her osteoarthritis, polymyalgia, and PAD. considering that she sees the same doctor I use to see (one who told me my fibromyalgia blood test came up negative back in the late 90's) I'm betting she's got fibro, which would explain a lot of her past issues and the fact even with her polymyalgia in remission and treating her osteoarthritis and PAD with treatments that typically reduce the pain drastically she still hurts like hell most days to the point she has trouble doing anything. sadly, my mom won't change doctors even tho I've been urging her to for years. she NEEDS to, she had been asking her doctor to check her leg circulation for over half a decade before he actually tested her and diagnosed her with PAD.
