I had a sleep study done last night.
It was interesting because the results were in line with some of the recent research findings on sleep disorders with Fibromyalgia patients.
I haven't talked with the doctor yet, but my tech shared some findings of my night.
I never reached stage 3 or 4 sleep, which is the deep level of sleep where the restorative and regenerative processes take place. I also had very high alpha readings throughout my test, which means that my brain is somewhat awake and aware of my surroundings even during sleep. This is why I feel like I've been run over by a semi when I wake up, and a large part of why I am always tired and never feel completely rested. I also woke up at one point due to back and leg pain, and the tech came in to check because he could tell I was in pain by his readings.
Luckily I don't have sleep apnea, which is also common in people with Fibro.
I am pleased with the results, because it shows that my doctors and I are on the right track. I have the proper diagnosis, and now we just need to keep tweaking my meds, continue with light exercise, and eventually I may get a portion of my life back.
