echinacea bad for fibro?

Jan 09, 2007 21:29

I'm feeling a bit under the weather (more than the usual) and since I've been exposed to sneezy & coughing people this week, I decided to make myself a cup of echinacea tea to help to fight off whatever might be trying to attach itself to me.

While steeping the tea, I saw this warning on the side of the box:

"WARNING: Recommended for adults only. If you are taking prescription medication, pregnant or nursing, consult your health care provider prior to using this product. Persons with allergies to the daisy family may be sensitive to echinacea. For maximum benefit, do not use for more than 6-8weeks consecutively. Take only when needed. Echinacea should not be used by persons with autoimmune diseases, AIDS, HIV, collagen diseases, leukocytosis, multiple sclerosis, systemic lupus, or tuberculosis. Persons with gallstones should avoid eucalyptus products. We recommend that you use no more than 4 tea bags per day."

Oh dear. What about people with fibro?
