not much happening yet, I've been experimenting with various hoop stiffening materials to try to figure out which to use. I had used hoop steel and plastic plumbing tubing already. I just finished hemp rope and nylon rope (worked EXACTLY the same only the nylon didn't smell like a barn :) I liked them, but they only work for a narrow hoop otherwise the skirt buckles. Cotton cording is an absolute failure, it offers VERY little poof.
Still to try are large basketry reeds, small bundled reeds tied into hoops, and willow withes. Based on small experiments I think the small bundled reeds will be the best for the level of stiffening I want.
I'm planning to do a demo of my experiments once I'm done. Either at a KASF or a University I think would be best.
