Title: Tunnel Vision
Author: fiar22
Rating: pg-13
Couple: taekwoon x oc, hakyeon x oc
Author's Note: I started this a while ago and have been posting it else where. I guess I'll post it here too. I'm really into vixx, so I'll probably start writing a bunch more vixx fanfic than SHINee. Anyway, this was inspired by some youtube video with On and On and the song Tunnel Vision. Also, the formatting is kind of fucked for later chapters, so if that's bugging you then just
read it here. I'm too lazy to spend time fixing it on here.
Forward:
Rin lucked out. That was the only way she could see it. Not only had she become partners with the quiet and mysterious Jung Taekwoon, but when they pulled their topic for the assignment out of the hat, it just so happened to be love. Well, the slip of paper actually said 'complicated love', but that was still love. Rin cheered for joy on the inside while keeping a calm exterior. Finally, she had the Jung Taekwoon's phone number and promises that he would call her later. Of course it would probably only be to talk about their assignment and when they would meet up to work on it, but that didn't matter one bit.
She carried herself home on a cloud that day. It was the start of something. She just knew it.
The Mysterious Taekwoon:
"So, complicated love," Rin said.
They had decided to meet at a cafe. Rin had secretly squealed when he'd asked her because that was the type of thing couples usually did. However, it was also a good place for them to write lyrics about complicated love for their assignment. Still, being surrounded by couples with Taekwoon was like a dream come true. He looked like a god in his grey-blue sweater and even though she was only there to do homework with him, she felt the other girls' jealousy radiating from around the room.
Coming back to reality, she stared at him, waiting for him to say something. He was staring off into space, thinking, so his expression was slightly different than his usual blank one.
"I only see you," he said.
Rin had to bite her tongue to keep from swooning at those words. She had to consciously remind herself that he was saying it for the assignment, not to her.
"That's a good start," she said, writing it down, "but that's only the love part. How do we make it complicated?"
She peeked up at him to see him thinking once again. She tapped her pencil against her cheek in thought.
"Lies," Taekwoon said.
Her mouth formed an O. "Ohh, that's good," She nodded. "So, something about only wanting to be with this one person, but that one person is lying. Maybe they are unfaithful?"
She looked up at him, looking for approval.
He nodded, “Mmm."
A few hours later, they were packing up their stuff. They'd only worked on a verse and weren't completely happy with it, but Taekwoon had other schedules to attend.
"We'll have to work harder next time," Rin sighed.
The edges of Taekwoon's mouth twitched, but Rin thought she must have been imagining it. "I'll call you," he said simply before he waved and left the shop.
When he left, Rin grinned brightly and bit her lip. She replayed his last words over and over again on her way home. It wasn't much. Actually, she thought he might've been a little annoyed with her, but she was happy still.
They met up again and again, but as time went on, Taekwoon's heart seemed unchanging. Now Rin was the one starting to get annoyed. He seemed even more disinterested than usual. Plus, they'd only ever work an hour or so before he had something else he had to do. Perhaps it was just her greedy heart turning her against him, but still she found herself irked a little more each time they met.
Until one day...
Rin sighed and shoved her books into her bag. "Call me when you're free," she said as she slung the back over her shoulder and started to make for the door.
"Wait," he called.
Surprised, she turned around. "Yes?"
His lips twitched and this time she was sure he smiled because it stayed there as he spoke. "Some of my friends and I are meeting up for Karaoke later tonight. You should come... and bring a friend." He walked passed, their shoulders brushing, and when she turned around he was already gone.
