Enough of these substantive rants. Here's an update on what I've actually been DOING (well, other than ranting). In real life I don't rant all that much. I cant believe its been a month since an entry all about me.
Ive been doing a lot of going to work, and either coming home to just veg in my room with movies and knitting or going to get dinner with a friend, and THEN knitting and watching movies. I've gotten Kris into the west wing, which is nice because I can watch that show until the cows come home.
Since Its been so long, I barely remember what i've been up to. Last week on Tuesday was Allison's for pea soup and veggie casserole (and old fashioned company, i dont want to give the impression that food is the ONLY thing i go for ;-)), wednesday was rachel's birthday at Panang and kittens, thursday was chef geoff's with rachel and ross. Friday I cut out of work an hour early and hopped a train to NYC where I was met at the station by one of my favorite people in the world.
Jesse and I went and got pizza, then made me a Mii and played the Wii for the rest of the night. We slept in the next morning but I didnt know it until Jesse reached over and shook my leg telling me it was noon. Because the apartment is in the basement, there are no windows or natural lighting, so you have no idea whats going on outside until you actually go out. We hopped on the subway and went to Prospect Park (i think?) and met the lovely Kat Davis (roommate while i was in Russia) for bruch at a yummy little cafe where they use butcher paper as tablecloths and give you crayons while you wait for your food. The walls were papered with things people drew, some of them outright amazing. We sat and talked and reminisced about Russia (jesse was an amazing sport about the two of us going off on Russia things), then left breakfast to go to Barnes & Noble for coffee and brownies, much like the hobbit's second breakfast.
From there, Jesse and I went on to Rockerfeller Center to go ice skating, but the price was outrageous, even given it was NY. We wandered around (luckily it wasnt TOO cold), went to the Nintendo Store and the NBC store and just hung out around town. We went to an awesome little Indian place where everything was covered in some kind of reflective surface and the ceiling was covered in dangly things like chili lights and streamers and christmas garlands, and there were even little blow up dolls stuck in the strands. The food was delicious and we gorged ourselves. We walked around a bit more and went to an awesome little bookshop that had interesting books on display about art, anarchy, feminism, and all the kinds of books the independent press raves about. Then back for some Twilight Princess which was as beautiful as it was dark. But DAMN i suck at the controls.
Slept in late the next day, and breakfasted on real new york bagels with cheese, eggs, and turkey. Packed up, and decided to go see a movie at the theatre right next to Penn Station. Smokin' Aces was good, everything you would expect a mob hit movie would be, complete with self aware cliches. Then Jesse took me back to the station and waited with me until i had to embark for the 4 hour train ride back. John Manning and Kris were my heroes, and picked me up at Union Station.
Monday was fucking FREEZING, but alas, life carries on despite the cold. After work I met up with Kris and we went to Dan's for videogamage. We picked Julie up from her classes and feasted at Old Glory BBQ, where they have amazing pulled chicken and bottomless sweet tea. Back for more videogames (well the BOYS played, it doesnt take too much to guess what I did), then Dan was awesome and drove us home. Yesterday i cleaned my room (yay!), moved my bed so that it wasnt blocking the heat vent and keeping my room 10 degrees colder than the rest of the house, and hung out with Stew and the roomies while we ate Indian food provided by Beardo for letting him call our couch home for 3 weeks. Watched some Robot Chicken and West Wing, then to bed with me.
And back to work
