That statement is a bit of non sequitur unless I also mention that I am listening to a Portuguese singer right now. (No, not Mariza.) If Mexican Spanish reflects the warmth and brightness of the desert, than Portuguese reflects the susurration of the ocean when it meets the harbor. Yummy.
Also yummy: the library. Books everywhere! For free, even. Although they make you give the books back.
I went to the local library for the first time in...two years? Five dollars' worth of fines and inertia have prevented me from returning for TWO YEARS. I drop by the UMD library occasionally for CDs and Serious Books, but McKeldin is not ideal for one's fantasy fix. So I sucked it up, went to the Hyattsville branch library, and had a wonderful time. I checked out Alex Ross' The Rest is Noise, Cory Doctorow's first novel, the second novel in a series I've been aching to finish for years (The Bitterbind? or possibly Bitterbynde, Saga), and a few other books. Now I cannot decide whether I should read Doctorow or the other fantasy book before I go to bed. In all likelihood, I will just fall asleep anyway. :P That means I can save them for Friday night.
And now, a Girl Scout cookie, followed by bed.
