I can manage one trivial post at least...

I did try to house sit a friend's cat starting on Saturday. Said friend has had to move rather suddenly and is renting a furnished basement from someone till the end of the year, but the owner is allergic to pets and therefore can't keep their cat there.

Problem is, I hadn't realized how spoiled I am by my cats... they mostly just lay around, accept the occasional scratch behind the ears and beg for a treat, and that's it. They'll run in and out but for the most part they're quiet and well behaved.

I don't know if it's just that the new cat is in an unfamiliar environment or if he's always been this way, but he won't shut up. At least at night when we're trying to settle in. During the day he sleeps, at night he yowls. And we can't put him outside at night because he has bad eyes and no night vision (the reason the friend in question couldn't just keep him outside till the five months are up). And while my cats were relatively friendly and tried to sniff him quietly when introduced to him, he spits and snarls nonstop till they're out of sight (while they just sit and watch the show, not even flicking tails or putting back ears).

So I gave it five days, and now I've called the friend in question and told him I can't keep the cat. I'm sorry I can't help him out, but I can't deal with the aggravation, and my roommate doesn't want to deal with it, so hopefully M will be able to get him in a day or two.

Blah.
