Does it still count as following the rules if you definitely don't eat meat on Good Friday, but do go out drinking?
In my defense, it was at The Winchester (the best bar/restaurant in Grand Rapids!) and I was meeting up with a friend from Lansing.
Gary is doing well, I'm still pretty sure that should I ever meet the asshole who hurt my cat I will do terrible things to them, but it's nice to know that he's pretty much on the mend.
As you may have guessed, I didn't head back to the coast for the holidays. I would have loved to, but, well, it's a long drive/expensive flight, and I didn't want to waste vacation time. And anyway I would have had to bring the cat, who cries and pees whenever we go in the car.
So life is pretty awesome other than solo holiday. The bartenders at my favorite bar now know my name, I met a pretty fun guy (although he lives in Lansing, it isn't THAT bad), I met a mad scientist (since I left my last one out in NYC, this is an important development - and yes, I have more than one mad scientist friend), and it looks like we're finally done with snow! Now if they can just finish the construction on the highway, life will be grand.
Still having tenure angst, but I'm working on it. I have a great idea for a new paper, one that might actually not suck, so I'm going to start working on that this week. But now it's time to rewire my dvd player and cable box, grab a quick shower, and head to Meijer. Hopefully everyone will be at Church vs. shopping, but this is what I get for putting off buying cat litter til Sunday.
