An Upcoming Invasion with a Personal Twist

Feb 19, 2015 22:18

Hey, everyone. I have a really early notice of a day-long fight invasion thing on Saturday, March 14. Why am I announcing that three weeks ahead of that date? Because it ties into some personal plot stuff that, if it interests people, I’d love to have some help with.

First, the invasion outside the cut! On that Saturday in a few weeks, Fandom will be littered with Spider-Man villains, specifically the Vulture (for your flying types and old-person haters) and Kraven the Hunter (for your ground-based fighters and facial-hair-ophobes). There will be a whole bunch of each collected from throughout the multiverse with their minds reverted to an animal state. They’re hounds looking for a specific prey, and they’ll attack anyone who gets in their way. Much of their activity will be centered around the Docks so it shouldn’t be too much trouble to avoid them, but some can and will get out further across town as you mod them.

These villains can be modded or you can request NPCs, and any that are left by evening will turn on each other and clean themselves up.

But why are they in Fandom? What’s their prey? To find that out, you’re going to have to step into the Spider-Verse. And by that I mean “read a few paragraphs if you dare."

Long story extremely short, you should read the Spider-Verse event that's wrapping up in Marvel comics. Slightly longer: I’m using this story of Every Spider-Man Ever versus a family of goth energy vampires called the Inheritors of Reality as personal plot fodder in which I use Every Spider-Man Ever... who was a regular character in Fandom... played by me. I could go on and on, but I’ll keep it to the shortest version I can, keeping in mind that I’m talking about Spider-Man stuff right now so I’m sorry.

Jessica will get a warning about the Inheritors indicating that part of their plan to Inherit reality is to invade Fandom. She’s given a mission to stop that from happening, so she recruits Spider-Men of Fandom’s past to help out.

She and former shop owner Ben Reilly will draw the line on the mainland, trying to keep Verna of the Inheritors off the island. She will want to eat them and march onto Fandom, and she very well could. The Inheritors are ridiculously leveled up boss characters with impossible strength, speed, durability, a hunger for life energy from Spiders, and even if you manage to kill her (unlikely) she will immediately respawn in a new body.

While that’s happening, former student Peter Parker will make his way into the city underneath Fandom to tinker with some machinery and prevent the Inheritors from setting foot in Fandom. Easy enough, if he can get past the villains and do some engineering.

Here’s where I would love some help:

The fight with Verna will be an open post on March 14. If your character is walking past the Causeway and sees the fight, or gets some kind of warning, or can sense it, or any excuse you might have to fight an unwinnable battle against an unbeatable foe from outside time and space, you can join in to delay her. If you’re interested, I have a thread below for a headcount. This isn’t a commitment, it’s just to gauge interest. I’m hoping for at least a couple people, but if more than that are interested, I won’t complain!

For Peter’s mission, I’d be ecstatic to get a couple people to help bodyguard him and/or help with the engineering under Fandom. This would be a preplayed post, with the fun note that I can only preplay during my non-work hours. So it would have to be evenings and weekends, Central Time. If anyone would like to commit to helping out with that, there’s a sign in thread for that, too!

So, in summary:

*Fighting villains: no sign ups, just mod at will on Saturday, March 14. Or ask me to NPC if you want an authentic mindless dude in a lion-face vest.

*Fighting the big boss: a general headcount thread presented to get an idea of interest. You’ll get some more information from me about what’s up and what to expect, but there is no commitment and you don’t need to sign up to even join the fight.

*Working under the town: a sign up is required below. I’m hoping to start getting this stuff written next weekend, to give time for the inconvenient nights and weekend schedule.

Thanks in advance for any interest, unless there is none, in which case this post becomes incredibly awkward, especially now that I’ve noted that. :D
