I actually had my first day of work yesterday. We had a staff development day in the morning, which was supposed to consist of 2 guest speakers. However, one of them had to cancel, so the other lady, Rae Pica, had to double the length of her movement lesson. It was like 4 hours of MCE class, so I was bored and irritated having sat through several semesters of it before. Here are a few highlights:
I got to meet some people from the center that I hadn't met yet. They seem nice. The girl I sat next to is named Lauren. She was pretty funny.
We were acting out words Ms. Pica said. She was doing textures. She said smooth. Everyone was like, sliding their hands around... I leaned over to Lauren and said "Hey, baby, you come here often?"
To pair up, we had to get back to back with someone. I ended up once with our assistant director, who is so incredibly short, it was like... her butt lined up with my thighs, my butt met up with her back, her shoulders were a little over my waist. It was a sight to see.
We played the mirror game. I started Vogue-ing with Lauren. I also started doing Uma Therman's dance from Pulp Fiction.
After this, 5 of us crammed into Tracey's 4 passenger car (you know, the one who is more popular than me because she doesn't wear glasses) and drove over to the center to clean up for the start of the new school year. We ended up passing Alexis, our boss, and all screaming and waving wildly. She honked at us. Then we all clocked in. Linda (the assistant director) clocked me in because I didn't know how to. I helped the new kindergarten teacher clean out her room, which used to be 3 year olds I think, but the girl who used to teach in there took what she wanted and then expected the new lady to clean out all the rest of the crap she didn't want. I helped her, and it took a long time. We got tired and had lunch. I was the first one to have any salad! It was all I had! I just wish there was a different dressing. And I had a couple garlic knots, which I had never heard of until a couple days ago when Paul and I were talking about the carnival. They were great! Then Jay came in for a while to help us clean. The books and mats for naptime were upstairs, so we had to go up the stairs, bend 90 degrees at the wait and drag crates of books over to the stairs. Then Jay carried them down the stairs while I dragged another crate over. Then I helped Dina bring the mats over to her new classroom. I took a break for acookie and Alexis asked me to take down 2 bulletin boards. I also went down to the toddler rooms and introduced myself to the people down there. I don't think I remember their names but I did go meet them, which is a step in the right direction. I helped organize a little more in the kindergarten room, then asked Alexis if she had anything else for me to do. She said no, I could go home. Linda clocked me out, and I called Paul for a ride. I went to get some cheesecake but nobody had gotten into it yet and it was all wrapped up in plastic wrap under the plastic container, so I just left it there and had a cream puff or 2. I visited with Tracey and Jay for a few minutes, then went back to the lobby to wait for Paul. Jay then had to leave to get cribs from the Nesconset center and asked if I would go with him. I told him if my ride wasn't on the way, I would. Jay seems like a gay Josh Hess so far, so I wanted to hang out with him. He's pretty funny. So then I came home! Yay!
The End!
