CHLOE SPEAKS:
Well folks, this is it. This is the end of the road, as they say. Welcome to the last issue of The Fandom Hightimes this semester, and the last issue under my reign as editor. (Yes, I said reign, and I shall smite anyone who argues with me. My minions still totally have my back.)
What a long, strange year it's been. As I willingly venture back to the world of meteor freaks and meglomaniacs in three piece suits - all running business while quietly plotting world domination - I find myself thinking, "God, I hope college isn't boring." Despite the calendar on my Sidekick counting down the days until graduation, I really am going to miss this place, and I'm especially going to miss all of the people. Those of you with the mad science skills? I dare you to see if you can come up with some sort of transporter that will automatically send people to the second floor common room.
Just kidding, Principal Washburn. I would never encourage anyone to do something that might damage a school building! (Of course, if the mad scientists can get it working without breaking anything...)
Anyway, this might be the end of the year, but don't assume you've seen the last of me. I expect regular reports that you all haven't burned the place down while the seniors are out.
PHOEBE SPEAKS:
The year is drawing to a close, and it's happening a lot more quickly than some of us would like it to. The senior class is graduating and moving on and beloved teachers have also decided to take this opportunity to strike out in new directions.
So much has happened in this year at Fandom High and I will never forget the things I have learned or the many things I have experienced. The most important thing being that no matter what happens, people will always pull together here to help each other out.
No matter where we go or how far we travel in our lives, the people and experiences of FH will always be a part of us and these same ties will more than likely bind us together long after we have left this island.
I want to give my best wishes for a safe and happy future to the graduating seniors, especially the ones I have worked with all year on this paper. Chloe and Veronica, I've enjoyed working with you guys and it has indeed been a learning experience. I'm going to miss you guys.
PROM FUN FOR ALL
by Angela Chase
The Fandom High Prom was held at Fandom Town Hall on Saturday, April 22. It drew dozens of students and a few teachers, all dressed to the nines.
The prom's theme was Lost Cities, and the decor featured backdrops painted by Professor Autolycus's art class. Decorations were hung by students in detention that day.
The prom court was: Angel (prom king), Callisto (prom queen), John Crichton (prom prince) and Aeryn Sun (prom princess). The awardees seemed largely surprised by the honor. "There was a popularity contest? And I won?" Callisto asked.
The prom was also a success from the student council point of view. "Nothing got blown up or burned down!" said junior class representative Alanna Trebond.
Most students who went also said they had a good time. "It renewed my faith in the male half of the species, even if he did want to make out with the punch bowl," said Sam Carter of her date, Cameron Mitchell.
And the prom also got high marks from at least one member of Fandom's nonhuman population, Faithful, who went with this reporter's cat, Minerva. "I had a wonderful date considering there were humans constantly trying to step on my tail," he said.
THE FINAL STUDENT COUNCIL ROUNDUP
compiled by Peter Parker
- Prom was discussed, surprisingly. As you may have noticed prom went well. It kind of seemed to go on forever, but other than that it was a success. Thanks to the junior reps for heading it up.
- A farewell picnic for the graduating seniors and a welcome beach party for the new students are currently in the planning stages.
- And, sadly, you will be without a Student Council over the summer sessions. Please find a way to deal without us. Me specifically. After all, I'm the conduit from StuCo to the people! We have a bond! I'll miss all of my readers and I'm perfectly willing to waste some space in the paper to let you all know that. Also, hi Zero!
Welcome to the final Gossip Column and Shipping News of the year. We're just as amazed as you are that a year has gone by so quickly. Over the last year, we've reported numerous hook ups, break ups and make ups. Somehow, the details seem unimportant as the school year draws to a close, as the seniors prepare to take their first steps out in to the real world.
The most important thing we've learned over this past year is that while it seems like everything changes, the most important things stay the same. And the most important thing is the bonds of friendship that tie us all together.
Now, you don't read this column for sappy sentiments, you read it for gossip. And we've got plenty from prom this weekend!
Popular couple Angel and Callisto were crowned King and Queen of the prom, while popular couple John and Aeryn were crowned Prince and Princess. Congrats to you all!
Many of the couples you've grown used to reading about were in attendance: Cally & Anders, Bel & Phoebe, Jake & Krycek, Chloe & Weevil, Marty & Angela, Piper & Lindsey, Rory & Anakin, Parker & Jarod, Zero & Peter, Blair & Molly, John & Sydney and Xander & Bridge.
There were also a number of people who went with friends. Who knows? Maybe Fandom High's new super couple was among them: Kawalsky & Alanna, Cameron & Sam, Jaye & Logan (complete with appropriately attired bottles), Veronica & Archie, Nadia & Walter, Pip & Ivanova and Janet & Elizabeth.
And because it's Fandom High, we even had dancing cats at our prom, with Alanna's cat, Faithful escorting Angela's cat, Min.
And I think that really sums up our experiences over the last year more than anything, because I'm willing to bet none of you even batted an eyelash over that last sentence.
Have a safe and fun summer, Fandom High. Good luck Seniors in whatever you end up doing. Don't ever forget how much fun we had. And don't forget that the Mountie is hot.
GRADUATION IS UPON US! BE THERE OR BE SQUARE!
