The sky was nearly clear again with only the barest trails of condo-shaped clouds rolling in from a distance. The newcomer vampires should be warned to take special care with their delicate flesh lest they go the way of dust, blowing in the wind. The once-thriving town might be mostly deserted, but there's still some places to be out and about, if you're careful to be home before the sun goes down.

The rooms were ready, the victims were fresh. The parlor was open, there was tea and what was now a rare vintage of Chateau l'Deadpool being served, and the proprietress was in.

She would even smile toothily at you -- unless you mentioned bunnies.

Okay. If she didn't want to hurt anyone, she had to do this. It was going to ... suck. But she could do this. She could.

Dinah made her way to the 'flower shop' by shadows and the sewers, frightened by the similarities as much as the differences, and stood in the lobby, looking around and feeling sick.

He was supposed to be in his room, sleeping. Not here. Lurking in a chair in the corner of the establishment, he cleared his throat.

Oh God. It was the same guy from her dream-- not a dream. Dinah forced herself to walk over there, trying to smile. Or something. Or. "Hey. Sam." She sat down on the foot rest in front of him, instead of squirming all over his lap like Thursday night. "You came back."

"You could say." Dinah reached for his hand, then curled it back in her lap. "I need... Sorry. I just." She looked away, closed her eyes. "Maybe we could do this with a cup, or a knife?" Except that wasn't what he was after, she remembered. Maybe she couldn't do this.

That . . . was weird, and Anders leaned forward, frowning. "What good's that do either of us, then? Unless . . ." That new list in the lobby, right. He hadn't looked at the names yet. "Not feeling like yourself today?"

Dinah looked up with an expression that her alternate self had probably never worn. "I guess people would notice, if we did that here, hunh?" She gulped, looking at his chest, and whispered, "If I don't eat I'll hurt someone, though. And I dreamed, I remember... Thursday." She gave him a tiny smile. "So. Better you, than someone else."

There was nothing about this girl that was anything like the vampire he'd seen here before. From the other Fandom, then? Like the people Piper'd mentioned?

"Oh, gods," Anders murmured, and scrambled forward with every intention of pulling her into a hug. However she reacted might give him a clue.

Dinah's face crumpled, and she intended to pull back, she did, but she'd been so scared and so hungry, and she just didn't have the resolve to do it again.

She put her hands to her face though, afraid the fangs were going to come out, scared she'd lose control. "I'm not safe!" she whispered. "You shouldn't be doing this, it's not safe."

"Better me than someone else," he said wryly, echoing her words back at her and not letting go. "Most of 'em don't ever get a chance to get used to how it feels."

And he still had a couple of stakes on him, if it came to that.

"I'm sorry." And if she could've blushed, she would've. Remembering what Tony had told her about the rush of being hurt, the edge of trusting someone and getting off on it, Dinah got the feeling that apologizing wasn't what he wanted to hear. And she remembered Sam's reactions very, very well. "I mean, thank you?" She sighed. "Don't let me hurt you too much, okay? I can still sense it, but I haven't done this before, I might not stop."

So. Hungry.

"Oh, kid." Anders felt sorry for her, as clearly scared as she was, and rolled up his sleeve, exposing the arm that was less bitten-up than the other one. Damn vampires and their enhanced hearing -- he held a finger to his lips to caution her and leaned forward, motioning for her to lean in. Make it look like . . . well, like normal.

Dinah leaned down, still trembling, and then the smell and the hunger took over, and she felt her face change. She had just enough control to just do one bite before beginning to drink, and then relief had her closing her eyes. Warm and delicious and oh god she was sucking someone's blood no no don't think of that, just drink, and... she could feel his reaction through his skin, no shields up, not while she was like this, and she wanted to push him away and crawl into his lap and god, she had to stop pretty soon, she was sure ....

Anders closed his eyes in anticipation of the familiar, addictive shock of fangs piercing his flesh, the adrenaline, the sensation of being drained, but . . .

This wasn't anything like the way it usually was, and Anders suddenly felt incredibly dirty in a way he never had before -- neither of them really wanted this, now.

"Oh, kid," he said quietly, raising a hand to stroke her hair. He was starting to get a pretty good idea of how far he could push this, now, but he'd been here three nights running and knew his system couldn't replace the blood that fast.

"Easy," he murmured. "Take it slow, 'kay?"
