Vail Ski Resort, Tuesday Evening, October 12

Oct 12, 2010 18:39

The ski slopes might have been closed, but the resort was still full of life as the sun went down. There was food to be eaten, shops to explore, and all the offerings in the hotel of which to take advantage. There was no reason for the fun to end yet!

If you're in the mood for Mediterranean cuisine, then Centre V is the place to be.

If you're in the mood for something a little more local, then head to the Tavern on the Square for drinks and high-quality pub grub.

Percy had spent the day skiing so now, tired and cold, he was in the restaurant, scarfing down food like he hadn't eaten in days. Apparently Luke was right, being a teenage boy made you eat a lot.

Fresh from a day at the spa, Harper continued to treat herself. There were too many delicious things on the menu so she opted to order a sampling of different appetizers to get a bite of everything. There was plenty to share if anyone wanted to join her.

Jaina's week was pretty quiet so far, but she was enjoying it. Part of the quiet came in things like finding a table by herself for dinner, opting for something non-alcoholic to go with it. If she ever got a vacation again, hopefully it would be something where she didn't feel like she had to be responsible.

It was a tavern for god's sake. John dropped into an empty chair at the Solo table with a drink in his hand. "Mind if I join you?" Because he looked like he would willingly get up if she said she minded.

"No, not at all, sit down," she said with a grin. "Good thing I wasn't set on being alone."

"It's vacation," he shrugged. "Alone would've been staying in town."

"Yeah, I think I would have gone crazy there alone, if everyone's here," Jaina realized, pushing a plate of fries toward him in case he wanted any. "See, there's another plus to vacations. I'm relearning."

Fries were great to gesture with while he talked. "I admit, I'm amazed how well you've managed this given I'm around."

"Given you're around?" she repeated, needing a little explanation there.

"We don't exactly have a great history with these trips," John reminded her before chomping on a fry.

"Mexico," Jaina pointed out. She still had fond memories of that trip.

John's eyebrow lifted. "You hated Mexico."

"No, I loved Mexico," she said, shaking her head. "I wasn't a fan of having to room with Gavin and Inara, but that led to nights out on the beach so I got used to that. I'd still go back there. I had a bad time for about half the cruise the year after."
