There's a small bazaar in a large cavern, with baked goods, pottery, textiles, and other handcrafts. The merchants will take your money, just because it looks neat and they know they can pester Ghani to change it out for them.
No, Tahiri was not actually going to bring sand or a sandworm back for Ben, but she was going to bring him something. Just . . . what, exactly? She could be here a while, deciding.

K-Mart was all over the shopping. For one thing, hi, shiny new place to shop. For another, she had people she could buy stuff for. For a third, she was still making up for lost time.
And since she had the crapload of cash that Benicio had given her for her fifteenth birthday a couple months back, she had plenty of money to burn... if she could figure out an exchange rate or something.

After her rock-climbing adventures, Claire headed to the bazaar to pick up some souvenirs. Mostly for herself, but she was also going to take something back for Peter.
Francine had promised to bring something back for Katchoo. What she wasn't sure, and she also had a rather more expensive earth-made present burning a hole in her pocket, but it's not every day you go to another planet, so she was determine to find something nice.
"I can't figure out this money thing. I'm from a barter economy, I'm still trying to figure out how to buy things in Fandom. How do I know the local currency exchange rate for these stupid green pieces of paper?" Wow she hadn't meant to vent like that. "Sorry."
"It's all right. I think the people here will take them without issue. And I believe there's a banking instution in Fandom that could help with the exchange." She gave a wry smile. "I've been having to learn some aspects of business now that I have inhierted my father's factories."
"That seems to be the idea," she nodded. "I just gave them what they seemed to want. To be honest, I don't understand these bills either," she waved a one dollar bill at her. "I'm used to pounds. And things seem to have gotten much more expensive in the future."
