Mac was finally getting into tropical island mode, which considering they'd been here a week already? She was a bit behind the curve.
This was the sort of activity she could get behind, though. She was currently floating around lazily in a pedal boat in the shallows, listening to her iPod, and generally being lazy.
Anders floated by in his own pedal boat, in swim trunks and a large prominent bandage just above his left shoulderblade that was going to leave a hell of a tan line later.
He waved at Mac with the hand holding onto his camera -- he'd paid waaaaay too much at a tourist-type camera shop for the waterproof casing just now but it was better than losing the entire thing.
"Wasn't planning on it," Anders replied. And got a good firm grip on the side of the pedal boat with his free hand as he said so. "But dude! Check this place out!"
"Hope so." Anders snapped off a couple of quick shots of the coastline as seen from the water. "It's like I got a world tour as a surprise graduation present. Or more like everybody got a surprise world tour for this year's graduation."
"Never thought I'd get the chance to do anything like a world tour."
Mac opened her eyes, and looked out at the lagoon again. "Even as a person who really kinda likes the indoors, there's something about this sort of place."
"I think drawing dirty pictures for an assignment is fairly normal by Fandom standards," Anders remarked, maneuvering his boat a little closer when he realized the waves were making him drift off.
"Hey. Some of us aliens have perfectly normal . . . you know what? I'm steering the conversation away from that." Anders stretched out as best he could in the boat and tried to take a picture of the sky. While very blue, it turned out to be not terribly interesting on the viewscreen.

She shaded her eyes with her hand as she looked at him. "What did you do?" she asked bluntly.

"Must be even better when you don't even have class you have to go to?"
