Bioshockverse - Day 3 - Fort Frolic

Aug 08, 2010 01:46

Every city needs places where you can unwind, and for Rapture one of the best places to do so was Fort Frolic. Here you could find a bit of everything: bars, boutiques, theaters, record stores, casinos, strip clubs. The place was lit almost entirely by neon lights and plaster statues littered the place...wait...those were statues, right ( Read more... )

One of the grandest places in Fort Frolic, Fleet Hall was a huge theater where the citizens of Rapture would watch movies, plays and concerts. Plaster casts of human beings were sitting in some of the seats, a frozen audience for someone who loved nothing more than to be watched.

When everyone had filtered into the Hall, a spotlight turned on revealing a man standing in the middle of the stage, his arms held out in a dramatic fashion. It was obvious the man was a Splicer, but his face was covered in stage make up, hiding most of his deformities. He was dressed in a crisp suit and, when he spoke, it was the voice of someone who very obviously had a speech coach in life. Every word was enunciated and clear. He didn't need a microphone to be heard in the huge room ( ... )

'Too far for a crossbow accurately' was James's first thought as he listened to the speech. "This place is full of those touched by the gods, Ruthia preserve us," he muttered, invoking the Midkemian god of luck.

"Ooh, great, a dramatic monologue by a creepy dude," Bobby rolled his eyes. "Just what this whole experience was missing."

Claudia was exhausted, aching, working her way towards traumatized, and really, really not amused.

"Seriously?! The part we need is protected by Dandy McPsycho? I really hate this place."

Pounce hissed from where he sat beside Beka on the floor.

"Pox and murrain," Beka cursed. She was tired of this world.

Peter wished he really knew how to use the gun that he'd picked up. He only had, like, three bullets. But given he was being lectured by what looked like a creepy mime with an even more creepy voice (though he wasn't really a mime, given the whole lecture part).

"Well, I guess we did have to ask the locals for it," he said.

Despite wanting to try to reason with this guy, Clark was kind of used to creepy bad guys not caring about what he had to say and so he kept his mouth shut and waited for the co-stars to show up.

"Co-stars?" Lindsay said meekly. She was certain they weren't the singing and dancing type.

Things couldn't be too simple, could they?

"Nothing's more brilliant than a madman with too much time on his hands," Mitchell muttered under his breath.

Mostly.

Because the goddamn splicers just weren't enough. No, now there was another crazy person, and Sookie hadn't raised her shields at all the entire weekend.

Hearing all of her classmates' thoughts, plus keeping track of all of them, plus the splicers, and now with the additional onslaught of this crazy person -- she wasn't going to take much more. Her skin was turning ashy, her hands were shaking and alternately sparking and fading, and with Sander Cohen's last pronouncement, Sookie's nose actually started to bleed a little from the effort it took to dismiss the thoughts that were pouring from him into her brain.

It hadn't been her favorite weekend, no.

Oh, nosebleeds were never a good sign. In general and especially when concerning telepaths. Perhaps not surprisingly, Bobby had been doing a lot of hovering worriedly today.

James noticed her paleness, and started at the nosebleed. "Are you okay?" he asked softly.

A clown in bad makeup taunting them with a speech before finally sending a bunch of thugs after them. Good thing things like this don't happen everyday, Bruce thought as he grabbed the grenade launcher from his back. He knew how to start a show with a bang.

Hinata watched. And Hinata listened.

And Hinata's expression finally settled on as close to bitch, please as she ever got to.

As soon as Cohen clapped his hands, the lights in the room dimmed and what might a familiar song filtered through the speakers. The faint laughter of Splicers nearing could be heard from all directions.

You better put on a damn good show of fighting, otherwise Cohen won't give you the part you need to get back home.
