Partytime / Bon Voyage

Gorgeous weather again today. Sadly I had to work, but work wasn't nearly as trying as it was on Friday. I think I generally don't enjoy working on Fridays. I almost like it better when I had to work both Saturday & Sunday, but got Friday off. Moot.

Afterwards I stopped by a cafe to see some peeps I knew would be working late. Galavanted with them for a quick 30 and then made my way homeward, did a quick refresh, change and headed off to a going away party for a good friend and his girlfriend who are moving to San Francisco Wednesday.

Pretty freakin' excited for them. It'll be a great change, I think. Opposite side of the country, probably a total change in temperament to go along with the climate and surroundings. Envious. Going to have to be a bit firmer about my 3-year plan. Perhaps I can make my move in 2 or less. We'll see. Logistics, logistics.

Party was great. My friend (a different friend - who knew I had more than 2 friends?! Shocker!) and his bro have a house that's rather nicely done and there's a strange / concrete patio that's below ground level outside but bricked off (you can climb the brick wall and THEN you'll be in the back yard proper. So, enclosed patio, about 5 foot brick wall on 3 sides. I'd make the perfect mini ice-skating rink! In fact, my friend Camille brought her roller skates and was doing some skating in the patio square (as well as in the house).

Nice to catch up with friends (OH! There's that word again!) I haven't seen in a long time, though most of that crew I see frequently, if not all the time. Photos were taken (not by me), so I imagine they'll be online before the weekend's out. Can't wait to see them. Arrests might be made.

At the end of the party (around 2:30 a.m.) someone inexplicably puts in Vincent Gallo's film "Brown Bunny" and of course they fast forward to the infamous fellatio scene and before you know it, there are about 10 of the remaining 13 people at the party standing (crowding, actually) in front of a tv that's closer to the ground, discussing this movie and how bad it was or how it made them feel watching it the first time. I kept saying, "It's fake. He's wearing a prosthetic!" and people kept saying, "REALLY? It looks so real!" and other declarations of disbelief and uncertainty. One girl was saying even more outlandish things than I. I'll not repeat them here, but somehow I was the only one who seemed to be paying attention to her, which was a waste of my time.

Great party with a strange ending. Lots of dancing, and the conversation was never dull. I wouldn't mind hitting a party every week. Even met a few new people properly (people I'd seen around, but never got a chance, made the time to properly introduce ourselves).

Your boy is tired. A bit of exercising / stretching and then some damn sleep.

I totally forgot "Wendy" (i.e., windy) as a potential child's name for "Make Out in the Woods" day lovechild. Comedy is timing and I missed that one.
