I just want to say that at the same time as the Democrats are crippling our science institutions ...

He even pulled his punches. Not only did Congress not follow through with the funding, it reduced or zeroed it in a broad swath of cases. It's a moot point, but I find myself wondering, if Bush were up for reelection this year, would the prospect of a doubled science budget convince me to vote for him? There are so many amazing things that could be done with that money, and on a selfish note, it could significantly improve my career options. On the other hand, it's Bush. I don't think there's any way I could ever let this outweigh all the other stupid shit he's done.
