My bedroom has the beautiful down right now, I love sunny afternoons here because its lovely. It makes my room both warm and beautiful. It makes the colour in the floor pop out at you. A book I was reading a couple of days ago was suggesting that the reason westerners like light and big rooms is because of our skin colour, his argument being that in Japan although they painted their skin white it still had a certain murkiness to do that you can see underneath and that he thinks it inspired them to have a great love for the shadows. Where as our skin glows like pearls and so we learnt to love bright clear light. It's quite interesting. I am not particularly sure what I think about his argument but he does have a point that aesthetically we are at opposite sides.
