What do you want to know? The state legislature just passed a DOMA and the climate is pretty f-ing virulent around here.

I'm just really upset about it and it bothers me that it's not being picked up in the press around here. I'd like to know "what happened" but I guess that's not likely unless James is able to reconstruct it when he recovers (I hope he recovers). Also it's upsetting that these (latino) teenagers were picked up for the assault. I don't know if they're responsible for it or not, but obviously when teenagers are assaulting people for being gay there's a serious problem that goes far beyond them.

What is a DOMA btw?

Definition of a DOMA: First, it provides that no State shall be required to give effect to a law of any other State with respect to a same-sex "marriage." Second, it defines the words "marriage" and "spouse" for purposes of Federal law.
