What the?!? o_O
(x-posted) hehe have to share the story.
Last night's incident made my eye twitch and my urge to slap someone with a herring grew.
Alright, so let me start from the beginning. crpytic (FFKX:"Tinks" lvl 18 Red Mage) and I (FFXI:"Errors" lvl 18 Black Mage) were coming back from Selbina after dropping off the last item for the subjob quest (heading back to Bastok for supplies and to run errands). I set my character to follow crpytic, so I don't have to sit there an navigate.
I should probably mention the set up we play on. I play on my PS2 and crpytic plays on her computer. We have both systems playing off of my big screen (51''). That way we can play and both sit on a comfy couch. It's kinda neat to have the screen split screen running on two different systems you can compare differences in the game, such as clarity, speed, etc... Anyway, the whole reason why I brought this up is because you can see what the other person is doing, if there is every a hairy situation in a fight or the like. Back to my story...
While in the highlands it was night time and we ran by a Quadav. It started to attack crpytic's character, and at the same time her machine started to lag. I disengage my follow and go to start casting on it. When a party of, I believe three people come running in and steal our Quadav. Which is no big deal. I turn the camera and skeleton sorcerer is there hitting me. I return a volley of spells and Tinks gets a few blows in, before it drops in no time. crpytic's machine is still lagging on and off at this time and we start up out running again. During which I get a "tell" from one of the members cursing me out because I let her die?!? O_O What...excuse me!?! I didn't even see her drop and how did I let her die? She engaged a higher level creature, she couldn't handle. Her excuse was that she thought we were in trouble. If she would have checked our levels she could have seen we were in no danger and it was just a minor annoyance. Now I would have just let it slide if she was someone new and I would have apologized for not seeing her to help her out, and I would have let her know that the creatures in this area are tougher for lower levels, etc... I look at her stats and she's a Dark Knight lvl 9/Warrior lvl 4 and Rank 3. What the hell is she doing in the highlands?! She knows better then to engage out here at such a level. Apparently, her party didn't seem to help her much. Running all the way to Bastok she continues to black list me and unblock me. With an attitude of "I bet you didn't know this, or I'm going to report you for violating the end user agreement for letting her die." *laughs* Are people really this stupid? All we could do was sit there and laugh in amazement, I even shared the story with others as it was going on, all they could do was laugh.

Just wanted to post this as an FYI just incase you run into her. I really wish people played games for the enjoyment of it and got out to get some fresh air. It's a huge turn off to the other players when you come across a snobbish player.
