Okay, guys, I love the Final Fantasy canon pairings. I do. They fill me with joy and warm fuzzies. And I realize that the games may not have the time and resources to fully develop each relationship to the point where it seemed mature and believable. But.. still

But I think that's 'cause they work together on their little "jobs"? lol. I don't know. I think on the Bahamut was the only time they formally crossed the line over to non-platonic-ness. And the fact they stayed together in the end... well, yea, I think that definitely sets it up and makes you go, "o rly?"

Don't get me wrong, I think they definitely have somethin' goin' on, but I just don't think Square intended for them to be canon per se. I mean, I would think if they did, they would have at least once, just I don't know.. held hands or hugged or referred to each other as a significant other in some way or something .__.

I haven't played Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings though, so I don't know about that one. I only know Vaan/Penelo is canon in that one because apparently they kiss in the end? But since I haven't played it, I can't say much about that...

But whether they're canon or not, I think Balthier and Fran make a great couple. :D Different enough to be interesting, but similar enough to get along. And gawd damn would they have beautiful half Viera babies hahaha.
But I see them more of the independent, no kids, just us being awesome kind of couple though, hehe. They'll always be doing cool shit together; never settling down. x)

I don't know about Vaan and Penelo... since in XII, I think Penelo's feelings were kind of unrequited, or at least Vaan was too engaged in the whole adventure and "trying not to die" thing to confess his feelings or whatever. I kind of got the feeling he thought of her as more of a sister, but I guess that changed somewhere along the way, haha.
But I imagine as a couple they would aspire to be awesome like Balthier and Fran, but would not be able to live quite up to their awesomeness. :P I think they definitely would bicker a lot, but not take it too personally.
I never put much thought into them, but I guess they're kind of a cute couple. ^^;
But I think Penelo would eventually want to settle down in a city, and would keep the bed warm while Vaan continued his sky pirating and came back to their humble abode as he pleased. :P
