Resigned to my fate

May 13, 2013 22:56

Wrote my resignation / retirement letter tonight, I'll be handing it in tomorrow. They want to start interviewing, and it'll make things simpler if I've actually resigned, I think.

Huge relief to get it written, somehow.

Do you have a new position lined up?

Which part of retirement are you having trouble with?

The not doing stuff part ... without something structured in my life, I'd never get out of bed.

Oh, I've got plenty of things to do - but for myself, not for an employer.

Did you manage to avoid the words 'Up' 'Arse' 'Your' 'Stuff' and 'It'? If so, congratulations! And hurrah for imminent spare time.

I went for boring instead - and it's not that bad a job anyway, I get to blow things up occasionally, so why be rude?

That's good to hear, I understand a lot of people who work in schools hate it so much they start counting the days to go with years left.

Oh, can you get someone to re-copy it in calligraphy? With a wax seal? If you're going to resign, you should do it in style.

Looking forward to a flood of Forgotten Future supplements in the, er, future. ;p

No, I didn't think of that for some reason. Remiss of me, I'm sure.

I'm hoping that more leisure will mean higher output, since I've been VERY blocked for a while, we'll have to see what happens.

Congratulations! A bit under 2 years for me until I'm planning to do likewise.
