I'm enjoying this story but struggling a little because I know almost nothing about any of the fandoms involved. I have a feeling that when the revelation comes about the villain's identity it'll be someone completely unknown to me.

The villain has appeared in the story.

In that case my guess is that it's the Jor-El AI.

Now if I tell you where will the surprise go...

You'd think that for a super-person wanting a big bang, a kinetic energy strike would be much more effective, with none of the nasty fallout issues.

BTW: Is this supposed to be in the same continuity as "The Intern"? In which case, Veronica is going to have some suspicions about the hostess of that party now.

No, I really don't think so, that's more the Lois and Clark universe and the time frame doesn't quite fit.

Re fallout etc., you'll find out soon enough.

A bit silly, but I needed a reason for Kara to have the run of the mansion.

The confirmation of the crosses with Buffy and Sarah Connor Chronicles leaves me wondering

1) if the Sunnydale collapse occurred while Superman was on his space trip. I suppose it just about works, if we assume Superman Returns actually occurred in 2006 when released, and Jason was the same age as the actor (Tristan Le Beau) who portrayed him, so born in 2000. That would have Superman leaving sometime in 1999 or early in 2000, missing Sunnydale, 9/11, and a lot of other stuff.

2) how well Terminator endoskeletons are concealed as normal skeletons to X-ray vision, whether Superman's career extends back to the times of the original Terminator mission to kill Sarah Connor or the 'terrorist' attack on Cyberdyne, and so on.

I'm not going to use any of them in the story! I just wanted some conversation at the party!
