Graduation thoughts and stuff

I only have one more week of university before finals/graduation ceremonies. Eep.

I know, I shouldn't regret anything I've done, just look to the future and not be bothered about the past, my experiences make up who I am, etc. etc. But...I definitely have some things I would have liked to change about my time here.

Things I would change:
  • 1. I wouldn't have freaked out Autumn quarter freshman year about declaring majors. Yeah, I freaked out the first quarter about how I had already screwed myself over for my university career. I had myself completely convinced I'd missed my opportunity to be an English/Creative Writing major. I don't know how I managed it
1a. I would have gone ahead and declared myself a Creative Writing major, after taking the proper classes.
1b. Having declared my major that much earlier, I would have gone about with either a History or Korean minor.
  • 2. Gone out and about in Seattle more. I've only really been to Wallingford, Downtown and Northgate (and the U-District, obviously), and...yeah. That's pretty bad, having been here for four years.
  • 3. Definitely re-do Sophomore year in its entirety. I think the only class I liked that entire year was Korean.
  • 4. Do a better job focusing my senior year. BAD senioritis! No biscuits for you.
  • 5. Transplant Greek Row away from Hansee Hall. Okay, yeah, physically removing several blocks of housing isn't possible, but a person can dream, right?
  • 6. Maybe do some more volunteering/internships? It would help with "work experience."
And some silly things:
  • Get into Doctor Who, Supernatural, NCIS, House, The Dresden Files (book series), and a lot of other series/fandoms as they started (or get into it sooner, in the case of Dresden Files).
  • Attend Sakuracon all four years, in addition to about a gazillion other festivals/cons (Cheese Festival, SIFF, etc.). 'Cause...I just really should have.
What I would keep the same:
  • 1. Studying abroad in Rome--even with the *headdesk*-worthy roommates and the nightmare that was the visa application, it was an awesome and irreplaceable experience.
  • 2. Junior year, I have to say, was my favorite year. I don't know what precisely made it so wonderful, whether it was the classes (Rocks for Jocks! Weather 101 with a French teacher! The Planets! Korean! CW classes! Chaucer!) or Hansee or the friends I made that year or the discovery of the Doctor but it was all-around just a blast. I'd like to keep that year, thanks.
  • 3. Haunted House in Hansee! Maybe work a few more volunteers in, but I still wouldn't give it up.
  • 4. DAWGs crew. I really, really liked being able to move in early ^.^ I also, for some absurd reason, enjoyed helping people move in. I just hope that's not supposed to be a sign about my career path.
  • 5. My friends, of course. ^.~
  • 6. My Pepsi addiction. ^_^ Also, tangentially related, not being that impressed with alcohol (though I think I've discovered I don't mind Disaronno & milk) or even coffee (though I do like vanilla lattes sans foam).

Other stuff...I think I'm going to bake the brownie mix I have this Friday, as a sort of celebration thing.

My family is coming up this Sunday (the 7th) to pack up most of my stuff. Then they'll come back up Wednesday for the English graduation ceremony (which is about 2 hours after my Linguistics final, so yay for being over-busy that day), they'll probably take even more stuff down with them, and then Thursday I'll probably move out. Maybe Friday, it depends on my sister.

Also need to find someone to sell my fridge to. It's too much of a hassle to keep, particularly since we have no place for it at home. I also need to sell whatever textbooks I can back to the various stores. *is slightly cheered by the thought of money*

Scotty: I'm so- *scoffs* What? Are you from the future?
Kirk: Yeah, he is. I'm not.
Scotty: Well that's brilliant! Do they still have sandwiches there? --Star Trek [XI]
