I am seriously thinking about simply going ahead and buying Dresden Files books 10 and 11 in hardback rather than waiting for forever+6 months for the paperback. I don't think I could bear the frustration of not only not having Small Favor because someone at Penguin Group thinks selling 2 versions of paperbacks is a good idea, but also the long wait until a library finally has a copy of book 11 for me to check out while I miss out on all the online discussion because I'm avoiding spoilers like nobody's business. I mean, if I weren't separated from my books due to school and having assigned books to read, I would probably reread the series once every other month (except for maybe Fool Moon, but I'd at least skim to the good parts). I might be a little too obsessed with the series, but while I am obsessed, I may as well invest in it, yes?
My poetry teacher canceled today's class for a family emergency, which meant I finished my school day at 10:30 instead of 2:00. And while I was gleeful for having 2 hours of my day back, I would have preferred a cancellation a little later in the quarter (though not at the expense of his family, obviously).
I might decide to go to the
Emerald City ComicCon...but I'm really not that huge of a comic-person, aside from the Buffy and Firefly comics I collect (because there is no way I'd ever have enough money and/or time to catch up on either DC-universe or Marvel-universe). Jewel Staite (Catalina/Kaylee!/Wraith-and-Dr.Keller) is a guest, though, same with Tahmoh Penikett (the FBI agent in Dollhouse, or...somebody in 2000s Battlestar Galactica), and it'd be cool to see them in person. Oh, and Bruce Timm, of Batman: the Animated Series fame, he'd be awesome to see. Plus Darkhorse Comics, which sell the Buffy comics, have their own panel, so Buffy would be sure to come up. Still, not sure it's up my alley. I'd mostly be only interested in buying posters/prints. Some of the ones on the exclusive's page are neat, particularly Jason Palmer's print with Staite and Penikett (slightly marred by Darth Maul and those two other BSG actors, but neat nonetheless). The Seattle Commute print is awesomely hilarious.
And I just now remembered the newest issue of Buffy is out today, and I haven't gone to pick it up. D'oh!
Hope everybody's April Fool's didn't go over like a lead balloon. I mean, hey, Mother Nature got in on the action and made it snow today. If Mother Nature can have a sense of humor....
[After discovering that every wire in their nuclear bomb is the same color, when they were expecting the one dangerous wire to be red]
Jack: You know, I'd like to take this opportunity to say that this is a very poorly designed bomb, and I think we should say something to somebody about it when we get back.
Carter: I agree, sir. --Stargate SG-1, Fail Safe
