So on Monday I caved (to what? Consumerism, capitalism, the American Way) and bought a TV and a DVD player/VCR. The latter is essential for playing two things. 1) The bonus features on my National Treasure DVD and 2) My favorite movie, X-Files: Fight the Future. And with that one sentence I have eradicated any shred of coolness that I have managed to accumulate. Other than that, life plods on in ever more uninteresting ways. Last night we almost won trivia but not quite. Wendy, if you're reading this, the Cardinals will be in town on August 5-7. According to my calculations, we probably would not be able to see Mulder, but I have been wrong before.
My sunburn is coming to an end now, but I am really mad about something. About 2 days before I got burned, I was at the library and I grazed my arm on a stack of books. It was just one of those things that took off the top layer of skin, but now it's scarring because the skin around it got burned. Scarred for life by my love for Barry Zito. It'll be a good story for our grandchildren at least. "See this, kids? I got this scar the night I met your grandfather..." Except for the part where it was a day game, hence the sunburn, and I didn't actually meet him. The facts ruin the story.
