I got an invitation in the mail yesterday. My best friend from middle school is getting married and I've been invited to the bridal shower. So weird. At what point did I become grown-up enough for my friends to be getting married? Real grown-up job aside, I am by no means close to being mature enough to get married. Ashley, with all your wedding planning, are you freaking out too? I asked my Dad this morning, and he said that the first wedding he went to (you know, of people his own age) was his own. It was on my mother's 22nd birthday. Good Lord. Have I seriously missed the boat on this whole marriage preparation thing? I joke about getting married a lot, but I really have no plans to do so in the near future.
In related news, it doesn't look like I'm getting an invitation to the actual wedding, so Operation Get-A-Wedding-Date is off. Too bad.
Anyway, besides my total panic about entering into the wedding season of my life early, I have no idea what to get as a wedding present. The entire gift registry is available, but what is an appropriate "Thanks for inviting me to your bridal shower even though I haven't seen you for three years and thanks for making me contemplate the direction of my life when I was quite happily meandering along without direction" gift? A slow cooker? All of the gifts are reasonably priced and I do have tons of money, but I don't want to show off, you know? Then again, I don't want to be cheap. So I already hate weddings. My advice is get married soon if you want me to come to your wedding because I anticipate getting sick of this very quickly.
