Synopsis: This is the tale how Tora fell for a woman head over heels, although he was sure there would just be language barriers perhaps - and he ends up with a lot more than just language barriers. How snotty and stuck-up could that woman possibly be?!
“Okay, what the hell is wrong with him...?” Hiroto asked while pointing his finger towards an overly dreamy Tora who seemed not to be in their rehearsal room, who more or less seemed to be lost in his own little world as far as they could tell.
“Do you think he’s drunk?” Saga asked.
“Doing drugs perhaps.” Nao quoted. “Or mixed up his food with his cat’s food...?”
Shou chuckled and snuck up on the absentminded guitarist who was strumming some awkwardly gentle rhythm on his guitar while staring at nothing in particular as it seemed. “Tora-kun...?”
“What...?”
“Do you happen to be in love by any chance?” the vocalist asked and put his arm around Tora’s shoulders.
Slowly turning his head to look at Shou Tora began to smile. “I’ve met an angel, I think you can put it like that.” he nodded.
“And that’s reason enough to throw your metal-self overboard and play some cheesy rhythm...?”
“She’s an angel who can eat two and a half burritos, Shou... You have no idea...”
“Doesn’t sound so angelic to me though.” the vocalist countered and smirked.
“Because you don’t know anything, that is…”
“So you’re going to see her again?” Nao chimed in.
“I have to!”
And so began the most gruelling days in Tora’s life.
For the first two days he wasn’t sure if he should really call her once more. Maybe it was too upfront to ring her up and ask her if she’d go out with him once more? Maybe she didn’t even like him at all? Sure, they had spent a few hours together that turned out to be really nice, they had talked about everything and anything but Tora still wasn’t sure what to do.
So he waited another day, then sent her a text message that said “Oh hey, that time when we had dinner together was really nice! Maybe we can repeat that some other time?”
She never answered.
The guitarist was at rock bottom, even a few days later when he walked into the PSC building. Not that he had ever thought there was a realistic chance of her liking him too, he wasn’t even sure about his own feelings anymore. Could he actually say he had a real crush on her, that he wanted her to be the mother of his children, just because they had spent a few nice hours talking in a Mexican restaurant? Even to himself it seemed farfetched to come up with assumptions such as that. Just as he wanted to turn right, to get to the rehearsal room alice nine. were using, he felt his mobile phone vibrating in his pants pocket. He fumbled the small black device out of the pocket and glanced at the display. “Uruha, what can I do for you?” he asked without much ado and stopped walking.
“Aw, not much. I was just interested how you and Annessa were doing.” he heard the blonde saying with someone mumbling and whispering something in the background. “You did go out the other night, didn’t you? So, are you dating or something?”
“We’re not doing anything, Uruha.” Tora replied, biting his tongue. “We never were and we never will…”
“Oh? Why are you so pessimistic?”
“Because she’s obviously not interested in me, not at all. I’m not used to this, you see? Usually, women fall over because I’m Tora, the guitarist, but Annessa is… not like that…”
“Yeah, but isn’t that exciting then? I mean, you have to put effort into it, win her heart, stuff like that. I find that real romantic.” Tora heard Uruha say at the other end of the line.
“What the hell is up with you, Uruha? You’re all woozy in that pretty little head of yours…”
“No, I’m just saying that you shouldn’t give up and call her once more, or a few more times-” silence, interrupted by whispering; and Tora knew who was whispering. “Surprise her or… eh, what? No, he can’t do that…!”
Tora smirked as Uruha was obviously getting into an argument with his own girlfriend Kagura -who was more or less trying to set them up- about how Tora should approach the model. “I will just call her, alright? And if she doesn’t want to go out with me, then she doesn’t want to. I can’t possibly force her to, right.”
“Yeah, but don’t just give up. Maybe she wants you to really win her heart. Somebody, I can’t tell you who that is, told me that she can seem to be a bit bitchy, but she has a heart of gold, so treat it like it’s really valuable and precious, alright?”
“Are you doing drugs, Uruha? Seriously, you can tell me if you do…”
“I’m just trying to aim Cupid’s arrow at your heart!” Uruha said, laughing.
“Yah, shoot it at Annessa, not at me! She needs it!!”
“I’ll do my best. So, call her! Bye!”
He sighed and stared at his phone after Uruha had abruptly hung up on him. “That must be drugs…” he mumbled to himself but grabbed his mobile phone and texted Annessa once more, a simple “I would really like to see you again, dinner’s on me!” but she still didn’t answer.
Instead he ran into her by chance when he was grocery shopping three days later. He had just walked around a corner and had spotted a row of beer bottles of a brand he had never seen before, and was about to reach out for one of the bottles as another hand interfered with this action.
“Annessa? My, what a coincidence to meet you here.” he said, smiling softly at her.
“Yeah, it kinda is, huh?” she asked back, returning his smile - the last he had expected of her. “I mean, what are the odds to meet someone in Tokyo?”
“Did you have any business around here? It’s not like this is close to where you live, right.”
“A friend of mine lives just around the corner and we’ve been learning for an exam next week. But now I’m going to go home, so…”
Tora’s heart jumped and his blood was rushing through his ears, he felt like he was close to pass out - what appeared rather unmanly to him though, so he gathered his guts together. “Uhm, what do you… well… what do you think about coming to my place and I’ll cook something? I live close by and… I’m just suggesting, right…”
“Actually, that sounds really nice and I’m starving.” Annessa said with a nod. “I will bring the beer then.” she added, smiling and lifting up two beer bottles in her hands.
“Awesome.” Tora smiled and he smiled even wider with every minute onwards as Annessa seemed to have thawed out a great deal compared to when he took her out to that Mexican restaurant last time they met.
“So, how come you never answered my texts?” the guitarist asked her later, after they had finished their simple dinner: Curry with steamed rice.
“That’s because I lost my phone.” she explained. “I lost my phone and all my numbers and contacts and I was a little lost due to that lately.” And maybe it was just Tora’s imagination, but he could’ve sworn she blushed a little as she said that. “I have a new phone now, but also a new number and… that was all really crappy.”
“Oh, so that’s why…”
“Yes and I felt bad that I couldn’t contact you after we went to that restaurant the other night because that was really nice.”
“Huh? You could have asked Uruha or Kagura for my number, you know.” he suggested.
“Yeah, but knowing Uruha and knowing Kagura, they would’ve run straight to you and blabbed about me being super interested in you or something, and I didn’t want to give off the impression of being some snooty, meddlesome fangirl or something in that direction.”
“I agree with the first part, but not with the last. Why would they or I think you’re a snooty fangirl? I asked you out after all, didn’t I? If anything, I’d be a fanboy… Or, I don’t know, do models have fanboys?”
“Not that I know of, no.” she smirked.
“See? Then I would have been your first fanboy. That would be cool, eh?”
Annessa glanced onto her wristwatch and sighed. “You know, this was really nice tonight. And I like that it was spontaneous, but it’s late and I think I have to leave now.”
“Shall I take you home?”
“No, there are still subways going right now, and I don’t want to trouble you, so I’ll just bail.”
“It wouldn’t trouble me, not at all.” Tora shrugged it off, trying to appear casual.
“No really, just let me take the subway, okay?”
“Sure, if you want to.” Tora walked her into the corridor where she put her green Converse back on and chuckled to himself. “I had really thought you hate me or something, and that that was why you never called or answered my texts.”
“Come on, if I hated you I wouldn’t have gone out with you in the first place, stupid.” Annessa grinned and winked at him. “So, thanks for the tasty Curry. That was by far the best Curry I had since I live here.”
“You are most welcome and thank you for the nice company tonight.” alice nine’s guitarist added with a friendly smile and held out his hand, thinking she would take it and shake it since she was basically a westerner, born in Russia but raised in a town near Los Angeles in the US of A. Instead though she placed a quick peck on his right cheek, smiled and him and left, just like that. “Well… Thanks…” Tora mumbled as he continued to stare at the closed apartment door.
Hours later, when he was lying in bed, wanting to finally fall asleep he realised something: “I forgot to ask for her new number, damn it!”
archive page a/n: it took forever, I know, and I'm sorry, but there it is; the update. Also, it's not very long, but I gave my best and I think it turned out okay XD Again, I'm really sorry for taking this long to update this fic because this was actually fun to write and really refreshing from all the Uruha-centred fics I usually write (yeah, although he pops up quite much here, I knoooooow XD)
