Okay... one more irritant.

Pretty small potatoes considering what else has happened this week, but I just got this review on a Batman fic (rantworthy part excerpted):

"nice to see Ron have a change of heart at the last
mintue and decided to be clean and tell ** the truth. :D

Still I'm confuse, does ** know of the restraining order that Bruce received
last chapter ?"Folks ( Read more... )

Yup, I can attest to that happening when I pmed a friend of mine. I hadn't noticed it but when I looked back I found the stars. Apparently you cannot put hard and on together no matter what context it is in. Like Jackie worked very ** her essay for English and all she got was an 85. Okay, do they think we are all horny teens that have nothing better to do then hit on each other over pm or what. Or do they think we are little twelve year old's who can't handle a little cursing in pm's and such. If that's true I have a thing to say about that, I have heard nine year old's, NINE year old's curse. I had heard much cursing as I grew up I learned many of them from my parents or cousins. That and in modern society cursing isn't so looked down on now, I mean where I live they say bitch and shit on TV with no repercussion.

I sent an email to ff.net support, because I had a thought: if they have a bot going through deleting fics with (alleged) profanity in the title or summary... what happens if they do take down fics with summaries like "Dick has to write an essay about how he spent his summer vacation"? And are they going to delete the entire Dick Tracy fandom (all three fics)?

If they did then they would have to take down a lot of others as well. Almost all of the Queer as Folk fandom would have to be taken down as it is known to be full of sex. Sex with plot but still, sex. They have made it known that they don't hold with explicit descriptions and the majority of M rated fics are just that, explicit sex. Not counting some of the fandoms that have so called controversial titles that could be seen as sexual or cursing. I can't think of any at the moment at the top of my head I'm far too tired and my head is splitting from a headache to do so but I doubt that there aren't others out there. Never mind I just did like Kiss x Sis but that's the only one at the moment really. I also agree with many other people here who have taken to questioning what they mean by explicit, is it the dialogue, the description of the acts in minute detail, the over line of the act, or a very brief very clinical summary of the sex scene?

I think you'll find that the site is aimed at 12 year olds - that's what this is all about.

That's funny only because you have to be 13 to make an account... Not that most of were when we made accounts, but still...
