Today sucked. Period. My boss has told me to fill out DOT paperwork incorrectly. I told him no, I am going to do it the right way, which I explained why its the right way. He argued with me that I need to do it the wrong way. He then basically threatened me with punishment, probably a write up, if I continue to do it THE RIGHT WAY!!! He then asked me, over the phone, while at a delivery, what the problems were in the department, and having heard that Todd told him we need to have a meeting to discuss the issues, I told him the same thing. Now tell me, if your department was full of pissed off, disgruntled employees, wouldnt you want to hear what they have to say? Especially when you know that all of them are pissed....ALL OF THEM?
I would hope to think you would want to know what is wrong, as would any good manager. When I mentioned a meeting, his response was "its getting into season, there isnt time to have a meeting." Can you believe that shit? seriously, hes such an ass.
I can't wait to have him talk to me again about the DOT paperwork. I talked to my dad about it, and he said that my best bet is to get the manager to sign a paper stating what it is that he wants me to do, so that it comes down on him. I will do that, but it will not be good enough. I will be getting ahold of corporate, to see what the real way to do it is. I will then ask that they forward the information to my manager, via email, so that he knows what is the proper procedure as well. I refuse to do it his way until I have the signed documentation, btw. The ball is in his court for now, lets see what play he chooses.
I just had an idea, a great one too. I need to type up the paper for him to sign, that way he can see how obviously bad his decision is.
The thing he wants us to do is completely ignorant. He wants us to fill out our starting mileage on the safety checkoff sheet at the end of the day....but he wants the starting mileage written on the next day, that way the mileage will match up with the ending mileage when we return to the store from that day. Make sense? If not, I will be more than happy to try to explain in more detail, I am sure your dad knows what I am talking about, seeing how he is a trucker. See what he says, I bet he will agree with me. Anyways, I am about to check into this matter online, to see if there is documentation through the DOT that states the right way to fill out the paperwork.
