Title: A Quiet World.
Fandom: Crossover- FFX/FVIII
Pairing: Lulu/Quistis.
Prompt: Silence
Rating: PG.
Words: 400.
Spoilers?: None.
Author's Note: Hmm, I don't think I've got Quistis's voice in my writing properly - she sounds a bit like Rikku at some points :/ Perhaps I should play the game a few more times (gaming= =D).
Maybe my head's getting ready for my Lulu/Rikku drabble I'm going to do for the Lulu prompt.

You are watching her again.
The heavy atmosphere of concentration and the worry of studying loom over everyone in the classroom; only she stands besides you unaffected.
Lulu.
She is different to others, not from this world, and you find her silence deafening; unnerving. As her chest rises and her lungs swallow down the student's babbles, their voices wilting into a hush, you drum your fingers onto the desk in an act of rebellion.
Her hand falls down onto it and presses; forcing it to be quiet.
You glance up at her eyes, that look as if the blood within her body is about to overspill from them, and for a moment you understand what she is saying; without the need to open her mouth.
'We should allow them peace to think.'
Not a single whisper intrudes upon the class; though some students wonder why you nodded at the teaching assistant so randomly.

Once class is finished you take her to the training grounds; Shiva has moulded herself to you and the wish to 'show off', to make her speak in amazement, struts within your mind.
When icicles form and rip apart the earth she still does not talk; a sense of hopelessness stirs until you see her eyes.
Pain and a wave of glittering stars, remembrance, cause droplets of blood to overflow and spill from the iris.
You know Lulu is thinking of her world; of family.
Shiva bows her head and you embrace her; not daring to break the silence.

You break it the next day.
"I'm starting to forget what your voice even sounds like; why don't you speak?"
Her lips curl, a tongue of flame darts between those lips as her eyes narrow.
"Why waste precious time with the opening and closing of a mouth when eyes and the body can easily convey speech; while you bask in the moment."
Lulu does not talk for the rest of the day; yet you can hear her loud and clear.

Weeks pass and the both of you are now sitting together; watching the pastel sky.
Your hands stroke the nape of her neck.
'I love you.'
Jasmine scented fingernails trail down the curve of your ear.
'As much as I do?'
You rest your head onto her shoulder and drink in the scents of the world, the sound of her heartbeat and the warmth of the sun.
'Yes.'
