The start of their relationship was something akin to watching Seifer and Squall spar - when they played nice. There were the nods, the steps that seemed designed to throw the other off. The close calls and the near misses, each feeling a small desperate frustration from actions that were almost done, actions that should have been done but weren't.
The small comments and they were small; quick and often brutal to the senses, were tossed back and forth, and filled with uncertainty. Miscommunication was always at play, how could it not when one woman answered only with one word? Quistis had never known the other to answer with anything than one word. It held no emotion; just bluntness much like the much used chakram she wielded.
Beneath it all, there was one constant thing: fear. It was laced with determination and stubbornness.
Quistis would never have made the first move and if Fujin had, it didn't seem like an attempt but a blunder. And in the face of conversation, Quistis's words failed her; turned her words into one, becoming much like Fuu or worse; silent, like Squall.
It wasn't until almost a week after the last blunder that the white haired woman crossed paths with the Instructor. She almost let her walk away, but Fujin grabbed her wrist and quickly spun her around.
There was fear in that eye as it darted between Quistis's. "...MOVIE?"
It was a start.
