Four drabbles - FFVI, FFVII and FFX

Title: Weightless
Fandom: FFVI
Pairing: Terra/Celes
Prompt: 100 words only
Rating: PG

These days, Terra always feels different in Celes's presence. More like herself, or less. It's hard to tell.

She doesn't have the words for why, either, what it is about Celes that strikes so deep, cuts so close to the heart. Something to do with the winter in her eyes or the way her hair falls down her back when she leaves it unbound, the way the cloak slips from her shoulders when Terra unclasps it with unsteady hands. The weight of the armor removed piece by piece, worn and dented, heavier than it should be. The lightness that remains.

Title: Memento
Fandom: FFVII
Pairing: Aeris/Jessie
Prompt: 100 words only
Rating: PG

When the storage tanks light up, she's already running, eyes stinging from the acrid smoke. She isn't sure what the effect of breathing in so much distilled mako might be, but side effects are contingent on getting out alive, and there's no time to speculate. Theoretically, her vest is strong enough to stop bullets. In practice, gods only know, and either way, there ain't no kind of armor that can stop a SOLDIER's sword.

She ducks down an empty corridor, hears footsteps receding outside the door. Traces the pink ribbon tied loosely around her wrist, beneath the gauntlet.

For luck.

Title: World More Full of Weeping
Fandom: FFVI and FFIX
Pairing: Terra/Garnet
Prompt: 100 words only
Rating: PG
A/N: Title of this one totally stolen from Yeats and/or Loreena McKennitt

She is not queen by blood or by conquest, this one, with her dark eyes and her dark hair, her old, old magicite pendant. Only the Summoner tribe's lost daughter, who found herself where she should not be, and Terra wants sometimes to lift the crown from her head and the mantle from her shoulders, take the jewels from her wrists and unbind her hair, steal her back to where she belongs. Wants, and never will. Because Terra understands some things more than most - the right to choose your own world. The gift of having both, and the price.

Title: Recognition
Fandom: FFX
Pairing: Belgemine/Dona
Prompt: 100 words only
Rating: PG

"Spare me the condescension. You let me win."

"Of course. But that is hardly to say you were in no danger of losing." Belgemine's eyes are serene, elegant. Mocking. Dona admires elegance, but doesn't trust it. Mockery, she understands.

"And if I had lost," she says quietly, "just how much danger would I have been in?"

The other summoner regards her through a veil of smoke, unspeaking. Firelight throws shadows across her skin, transforms the curve of cheekbone and jawline into hollowed angles, and if nothing else, Donna knows enough to recognize hunger. She should be frightened, maybe.

She isn't.
