Why? Because it is beautifully written. Why? Because it is so incredibly angsty and heartbreaking. Why? Because there is not enough Lila in the fanfiction world and she knows her sister well in this particular story.
This fic is rich in emotion - palpable and intense. A painful, yet amazingly pure, story of a post-FIN Gabrielle going home.
I stay up all night, burning one candle after another, reading of a life whose meaning I had never understood. Some of the scrolls were definitely not written for the eyes of others; they are fragments of tales unfinished, poems scribbled in the heat of the moment, disjointed phrases written by lonely campfires on nights when it seemed the dawn would never come. Here are all the words that no longer make their way past Gabrielle's throat -- songs of love and war and unfathomable loss.
Much of the ink is smeared, and there are dark stains on one or two of the parchments that I am pretty sure is blood. Nowhere, though, do I learn the story of how Xena died, leaving my sister so far from home.
