This was really good! I liked how you mirrored some of the similarities of Mal's death with Wash's(and Zoe's thoughts of each), but also kept it as it's own distinct event.

And the idea of Zoe being scared is excellent, for all her great qualities, she is 2nd in command and that is where her comfort zone lies. This is going to be hard for her in many ways. So thanks for writing that into the fic!

I feel it is very similar for her. Mal and Wash were the only men she let into her life. Mal was family. Wash was her love. It's very hard for her to have them both gone.

She's petrified. She's beginning to fell lost. It's very hard for her.
