My first claim! *squee* Tempting as it was to sex it up in this chapter, it's still fairly early on and I wanted to add some more buildup before we get to the really good part. ^.~ Hope this is okay, I'm quite nervous to be working on a group thing like this. >_<

Trained though she was to read people, Inara was none the less caught off-guard when Kaylee kissed her. She recovered almost immediately, reminding herself sternly of all the reasons that Companions weren’t to take personal lovers. But oh, Kaylee’s lips soft against hers, Kaylee’s sweet, deeply sensual yet somehow innocent nature; coupled with Inara’s own desire it was enough to make her forget those reasons just as quickly. She rested a hand lightly on Kaylee’s cheek, returning the kiss gently, letting her take the lead. This was her night, after all, and Inara would take this only as far as, or as far as, Kaylee wanted to.
Kaylee hummed and leaned into Inara’s touch, cheeks flushing pink. “Sorry ‘bout that, ‘Nara, I know you ain’t supposed to be kissin’ people ain’t clients. Weren’t right for me to do.” The remorse in her words, however, was absent from her voice. She knew she should have felt more guilty, but Inara’s hand was warm and soft against her face and it was hard to feel anything but good. Inara, to her surprise and delight, just smiled.
“No need to apologize sweetie. Tonight is your night, and you get to do anything you want.” Were she with a client, those words would have poured through Inara’s lips in a suggestive purr. But this was Kaylee, her darling, her friend, and there would be no pretending with her, only the openness and honesty that her Companioning life left her so devoid of. She brushed her hand back, stroking it idly through that silky, honey-colored hair. Kaylee’s eyes lit up.
“Anything?” The hope and eagerness in her voice made Inara chuckle. “Anything, bao be.”
“Can I kiss you again?”
“You certainly may. In fact, I was hoping that you would elect to do just that.” Kaylee’s smile at her words was so beautiful. Inara took a moment to admire it before leaning in to capture those lips. The kiss was shallow at first, soft and tender, but it quickly escalated to something more intense. Kaylee’s nimble tongue slipped past Inara’s lips and she yielded to it, slipping her arms around the girl’s narrow waist and gently guiding her to lie back on the bed.
“’Nara…” Kaylee murmured. The name felt good on her lips. She twined her fingers lazily into the Companion’s glossy hair, twisting them through the dark curls. Suddenly catching a glimpse of her half-finished manicure, she furrowed her eyebrows. She didn’t want to be worrying about it, didn’t want to stop, but at the same time it seemed such a waste to leave it unfinished. She cleared her throat, voice coming out in a whisper, “What about my nails?” Inara only smiled again; that enchanting, mysterious smile.
“Fang xin, bao be, we can finish them later.”
