Thank you to everyone for voting in the polls. I know the proposal about fic contests with game restrictions got heated but I'm glad it at least got debated in the open and people were able to arrive at a compromise that worked for most people. Anyway, on to important changes for Game 2.
Important Rule Changes for Game 2
[GENERAL]
1. Alliances
Like the first game, Game 2 will have alliances. The three alliances are Black Mage+Dragoon, Monk+White Mage, and Soldier+Thief. The points in each alliance will be added together. Also, people will be invited to join their new allied team comm as a member without posting access.
2. Updated Game List
Vagrant Story and several non-game (anime) titles as well as upcoming game titles have been added to the
game list. The new additions are these: Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Legends: Yami to Hikari no Senshi, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Type-0, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Final Fantasy: Legend of the Crystals, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, Final Fantasy: Unlimited, Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, Last Order: Final Fantasy VII, and On the Way to a Smile.
Regarding things featuring ONLY Kingdom Hearts-specific characters (such as Sora, Hayner, Ventus, Xehanort, etc.), I've decided to adopt different rules per community:
→
ff_minigames: ALLOWED. Given points as long as it fits other requirements for that activity.
→
moogle_workshop: NOT FOR POINTS. Fanworks of this kind may be posted but they will not be given points.
→
ultima_arena: NOT ALLOWED. Only works featuring FF characters may be submitted to contests.
As in Game 1, any KH fanwork featuring FF characters prominently is allowed and will be given points.
All of these changes are summarized in the
game list.
3. Incentive System (Gil)
Something the mods have created for Game 2 is a brand new gil system. This was created as a way to reward people individually for being active and participating, even in not-for-points ways. Under this system, you earn gil by participating in minigames, contests, and discussions, or by posting fanworks. That gil can then be spent at shops where you can request fanworks from fellow members, or by making a
moogle_workshop-wide request. People get bonus points for filling requests made this way.
Gil is entirely separate from game points. It's something that belongs to each member individually and can be spent/depleted, unlike game points.
You earn gil in the following ways:
• 100 gil for sorting an app
• 100 gil for participating in an
ff_minigames activity
• 100 gil for participating in an
ultima_arena contest (either by voting or entering)
• 100 gil for making banners for a UA contest
• 100 gil for posting or commenting on fanworks in MW (up to 300 gil per week)
• 100 gil for posting or commenting in
airship_lounge (up to 300 gil per week)
• You also earn 10% of the purchase price for filling a request someone asked of you. This is handled slightly differently with moogle requests.
This is just a basic overview of the system.
sunflower_mynah will be posting more in-depth information about shops and how to make requests in
moogle_workshop. This overview has been copied over to
the FAQ post.
4. FF Land Calendar
I just thought I'd mention the calendar since so many people seemed to not know about it! The calendar is
here and is linked in the sidebars of most of the comms that tend to have deadlines. EDIT: You can add individual events to your calendar and get email notifications by clicking on the event and selecting "copy to my calendar»", or you can add the whole calendar by clicking on the "+ Google Calendar" button in the bottom-right. Thanks to
thedrowned for this info. :)
[SORTING]
1. Stamping App Changes
I removed the confident vs. modest dichotomy (since it was kind of a false dichotomy) and also leader vs. supportive dichotomy (since it's made redundant by question 4). In their place I've added forgiving vs. grudge-holding. There are also two new situational questions, questions 5 & 6. NOTE: People who submitted an application in between the break will be using the old app, so don't be confused by this.
2. Raised Stamping Points
Stamping applications is now worth 10 points, while referring someone to the comm is worth 60 (or 25 for mods).
[CONTESTS]
1. Mod's Choices
There will be one mod's choice award for contests. The mod running that contest will choose one non-placing entry they liked the best, and that entry will be given a small amount of points.
2. Lowered Points
Generally, the points in
ultima_arena will be toned down a bit, and the points in
ff_minigames will be boosted, to give some balance between the two comms.
3. Game Separations in Fic Contests
There will possibly be a fic contest where either you'll be able to submit multiple entries and the entries will be divided by game between two voting tables (Proposal 5B), or you'll be able to submit up to one entry for a popular game and up to one entry for an obscure game and there will be two voting tables for each category (Proposal 5C-5), provided that a challenge of this type fits in the schedule.
The contest schedule will stay the same as it was last game (1 long contest, 4 short contests each month).
[FANWORKS]
1. De-anoning Bonuses
You will get 5 points for cross-posting a contest entry to
moogle_workshop. This only applies to things made in Game 2. Older works won't get this bonus.
2. Fanfiction & Icon Changes
We've added a separate scale for poetry. Poems get 2 points, plus 1 point for every 15 words (compared to every 25 for prose). Drabbles of the "exactly 100 words" kind will earn a 2-point bonus.
We've also added a third category for complex icons. Animated icons, or icons with a significant amount of non-coloring work done to them will earn 3 points.
This information can been viewed at the
fanworks point system post. I've also added information about what counts as a variation for graphics, so that might be worth a look too.
3. Fanart Overhaul
The new fanart system is almost ready. It's huge enough that it will get its own entry in
moogle_workshop, though. In general, the new scale tries to reward complexity and attention to detail in a way that the old system didn't.
4. Shops & Requests
As mentioned above, the new gil system highly affects
moogle_workshop in particular. This will be explained in more detail in
moogle_workshop.
*whew* I think that's it. Game 2 begins June 1st and ends August 31st. :)
