Because there’s never enough slash… and just under the wire, too! But all PG. And 230 words
Slightly Trash-y too, so here goes a cut tag:
The tea is almost hot enough to take Simon’s mind off his problems.
He’s thinking, and sometimes, he knows, that’s a bad idea. Especially if you have no solutions, just the questions whirling in circles around your mind. And that’s all he’s got today.
He sighs, and blows on the tea again. Another scald on the tongue is not going to change a thing.
It would be so easy to fall for Kaylee. She’s got that incredible smile, that infectious laugh, and, well, frankly, she’s just amazing. He’s always been fascinated by people who work with their hands, who got down and dirty with machines, with anything, really. Kaylee is so bright, she’s like a star. An engine. His insides get all twisted up around her, in that sort of fluttery way that’s so pleasant. She’d be so easy to love.
But here’s where it gets tricky… he’s also fascinated by Jayne… the big, hulking mercenary has muscles in all the right places, and it’s hard not to notice the languid way he stalks into a room. Plus, he has that little secret blackmail hanging over Jayne’s head, and while he’d never follow through on the threat, Jayne isn’t so sure. There’s a slight visceral thrill when he thinks about the power that that gives him over the man.
Well, that’s not love, he’s sure. But it could be fun.
