He wanted to hit something or someone when he heard those whispers. "Lost." Like he put 'em down somewhere - his faith, his trust, his easiness - and then just walked away and forgot about 'em. Like he could put up a couple signs someplace, maybe place an ad out on the Cortex: Lost - everything I held close to me. If found, please return.
Lost meant casual - couldn't mean much if you'd just up and lose it all. Lost meant careless. Lost was a word that wasn't his.
Ain't nothin' was lost. All of it was taken. And that was the difference.
