Date? Up?
It's funny how I choose to update now after work. I am semi coherent, I think I'm hearing things, cold, and mostlikely will not spellcheck or do any grammar corrections throughout this update. With that in mind, here I go.
Is it just me or are those Archie Digest comics not funny. I've never opened one and I don't think I ever will. The cover says it all. The jokes aren't funny. At all.
Archie- "So Jughead, what's the big challenge about this new videogame?"
Jughead running off with the tv and controllers and such:"Keeping my dad from hogging it!"
Seriously now. What person at any age would say anything like that about a videogame. That's like saying, "let's listen to some 8 track albums on my jambox." PEople don't say shit like that because they actually know about that kind of stuff. You can live under a frigging rock and for the most part have a slight idea of what is going on in the world around you.
Archie is not funny. He's another example:
Archie and Jughead in gymclass, sitting down on a bench with doughnuts and mugs labeled cocoa (I shit you not). The coach says," when I said we were going to practise dunking, I didn't mean this."
Are your readers that intellectually impaired that they cannot assume that there is something similar to cocoa in the cup. The liquid is brown and steaming. I mean it's so blatant that it hurts.
And who do they market this to is beyond me. Is it for those people who are in their 50's 70's now who grew up with this and still find it funny. Or is it oriented for those little kids who don't know any better and will laugh at anything remotely humourous. It boggles my mind.
And why don't any of them grow up. They've been in high school for what now? 40-50 years. Saved by the Bell went to college. The Cosby kids went to college. Why can't Archie and company go?
Here I have great ideas for their college life:
Jughead walks in in a woman's dress with makeup and high heels on.
Jughead-" Wow I'm finally in a fraternity. t was hard work and I question my sexuality now but I did it archie ol' buddy"
Archie-" It's funny because you look like a girl!!"
Think of the hilarity that would ensue. Or wouldn't!
Seriously, everyone's homework it to go to the closest Mac's Milks/Beckers and looks by all the supermarket tabloids. You'll find it there. As a matter of fact you could go to a grocery store and find it if you wanted to. Just look at the cover. You don't have to read it. Just look at the cover. And tell me what you think.
I'm thinking this sounds funny now but once I get up and read this again I will mostlikely find this not as funny as it is now. So I'm going to enjoy this and go to bed.
