Red XIII: Rawrsly
I took a page out of bofoddity's book and took some notes and observations. So, a few things ( ... )

- "... Hey sis, this one's a little weird." Apparently one of the soldiers in the church is a woman?
I thought "sis" was referring to Aeris? It's kind of a funny translation, though.
Aeris's house is REALLY insane. I mean, not only is it green with flowerbeds (after statements that flowers can only grow in the church), she has a damn waterfall hooked up! :O NOT very inconspicuous when you're trying to hide from Shinra! My best explanation is that it's... erm, a spiritual interpretation of the place where Aeris lives, when in reality it would be made of junk metal and crap.

That's sort of funny if it is - they try to kidnap her often enough they call her sis?
I think the "IGNORE THIS IT'S FOR EFFECT" explanation is probably the best. But really, wtf? Where did the waterfall come from? What about the shafts of light? They're under a goddamn metal plate! Aeris is just that good at landscaping?

She says that the church is the only place flowers grow...if that's the case, then WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT HUGE GARDEN AROUND YOUR HOUSE?

1. I can never bring myself to rename characters in any RPG, even for lulzy playthroughs. That being said I always remove the XIII from Red's name to have him as simply Red. It always seemed stupid to me to imagine all these people full out saying "Hey, Red Thirteen" everytime they talk to him. Plus, considering his age and personality, Red's kind of a cute nickname. ♥
6. Shiny Golden Wire of Hope. I love climbing that damn wall after Barret's not-very-inspiring speech to that Very Heroic Music. I also love everything about Shinra HQ itself, but we'll get to that next week. In general, there's a lot of really little background details I've always loved about the Midgar section of the game. Johnny loitering outside the Honeybee Inn, the really bizarre trials you have to go through on the cross-dressing quest, the "This guy are sick" maybe-Sephiroth clone ( ... )

Also, those two guards near the Sector 7 pillar. It broke my heart when I saw one of them chatting up a woman when the plate was about to fall because I always thought that the two of them were involved in some complicated "Don't ask, don't tell" flirtation arc where the timid one was always trying to awkwardly ask the loud one out on a date ("I... I have these tickets to LOVELESS...") while the loud one was deeply in the closet and acting all macho to cover it up.
I just spoke to them and thought this EXACT same thing!

Cloud: What are you gonna do with My penis!?
Elmyra: My penis just blurted that out all of a sudden.
Tseng: My penis will be able to bring happiness to all those in the slums.
oh it just goes on and on. >>; /loser
Red 13 I like to name Nanaki, but then it sounds stupid when you get to Cosmo Canyon and Avalanche is all like, "who the fuck is Nanaki". >>; I always wished you had the option to change his name when you learn what it really is, because I think "Nanaki" is so cute.
When I'm playing the game for serious, though, I never change any names. It's too much effort, especially when I think of them as their names anyway.

"Yes, no longer shall I be Princess Garnet. I shall rename myself... GARNET."
I always wished they had a rename option too, although at least Bugenhagen always calls him "Nanaki" when you take him to visit. It would be downright infuriating if he didn't.

Anyway, I almost always rename Red to Nanaki and Dagger to Garnet. I guess it just bothers me to not call them by their proper names.
