I got out of work at 5 on the dot yesterday and fought rush hour to get to the Barnes & Nobles in Ellicott City. Yikes! Traffic sucked rocks and that was with a little demon in my car.  It's a shame this Simi can't breathe fire or eat people with Bar-B-Que sauce, the roads would be much easier. I got there about 10 minutes before the beginning. Orla was already there and Tirzah was on her way. Yup it was a girls night out with one of our favorite authors! I picked up Acheron in paperback and splurged on Infinity in hard back. I would really prefer not to have gotten it in hardcover and instead Acheron but its now only in paperback in the stores (when it was in hardcover, I couldn't really afford it).  Oh and before I even got into the store I had people turning and pointing and saying, "That's a Simi doll!" "It's Simi. Where did you get her?" "Are they the new dolls coming out?" It felt great to know that I made a character doll that was recognizable to the fans of the books. I met Orla inside and got my standing room only wristband and we waited in the back like all of the other diehards who couldn't get writstbands for seating in the morning.  The cool thing was we were in the back when she walked out and she saw the doll and started laughing and said she was cool, though she didn't come up close to see her. She did a Q&A session which was a lot of fun despite the problems with the mike. Tirzah got there about halfway through and both she and Orla thought she looked great, but I am definitely the sickest and most twisted of us. When that was over we waited in our very long line for our turn to get books signed. While waiting people wanted to take pics of the Simi. Oh and I got to ask the last question of the Q&A. I found out that yes she is and has been a member of the SCA for a very long time and she's a fighter!  Too cool!  This was something I had been wondering since I read the first book I found by her. It was so cool to meet her and she also answered my question about the horns. They change just like Simi's wings because she can morph them which is why she can have bat/dragon/feather wings and why I've found descriptions of her wings in the different books constantly changing. Here's a pic of Sherrilyn with Simi:
