Wow..talk about a hiatus
Just a quick update. Though this will prolly be my last post for 2007. Heh. Merry belated Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. Gifts are going out soon-ish, sometime after the new year. Apologies for their lateness. I'm lucky I got the ones for my family out by this week, much less before Christmas. It was a pretty laid back Christmas, the first one either of us has ever had, and very probably the last for some time. Had dinner at J's Grandma's and watched the cat push a container of catnip across the house. I think she did pretty well for her first Christmas without John. We found a book about German Pittsburgh and the history of Germans in the city for her. There's even a picture of her in it with the Ladies Choir at the German Club! She went through it and told us about all kinds of things she remembered about growing up in Pittsburgh in the 40's and her parents and brothers.
We've got three parties we're invited to for New Year's Eve. No cleaning up vomit at 5am for me this year! Yay! We haven't decided if we're going to hit all of them or not yet. We'll be heading over to D&E's place for dinner and a laid back sort of potluck party (they're not going out cause they don't have a baby sitter for little Sebastien). Not sure what I'll be making yet. Prolly more cupcakes, the cherry swirl ones I made a couple days ago went over well. Maybe some mochi...maybe some pesto or won tons or something. I'm still working on the real food. If we go to more than one party, then I may need to take something to each one, but I'm not sure yet. In February (if we're in the 'Burgh), we're throwing a big Chinese New Year party so I get to make gau and all manner of yummies. My Mom said she was going to send me paper lanterns and stuff from Chinatown while she's home visiting. Oh my. Now...if only I could track down a lion mask for Pinky...I wonder, if I gave him money, would he bring me good luck? Might also be going to another Robbie Burns party after the new year. Yay scotch! Chain said this time he's going to narrow it down to only 8 scotchs instead of the 13 or he had last time. And there might even be a haggis this time!! I'm just looking forward to the scotch eggs myself...mmmm...yummy.
